Spanish term

la ordenada en el origen

Spanish to English Science Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng
I know this has been answered here before but there are conflicting answers and I wanted to get "second opinion" (or more!)

It's from a document describing the results of "validation of an analytical method for determining impurities in dressings soaked with salicylic acid, using the liquid chromatography technique"

"Dado que el intervalo de confianza de la ordenada en el origen incluye el cero queda demostrado que la ordenada en el origen no es significativamente distinta de cero, siendo el límite inferior 95% -27.16 y límite superior 95% 9.61"

It seems it's either "the ordinate to the origin" (which doesn't Google too well), or "y-axis/ y-axis intercept" (which seems a long way from the Spanish)...

Many thanks

And thanks for all your help...!

I'm sorry everyone; I'm going to have to close this answer without awarding any points as I am no clearer about what the right answer is (hopefully, the term will not recur for me, in any case!)

y-axis/ y-intercept

I think it is used that way, yes. Or, at least, that´s how I´ve seen it Statistical softwares.

Good luck

ordinate

As opposed to "abscissa".

There's no need to change "ordenada" to "y-axis intercept", which is correct too. The reason you won't find "ordinate to the origin" is because "ordinate" suffices. You may find "ordinate with respect to the origin", though.

ordinate at origin

y-axis value at x-axis zero value.

One reference:
"The explicit equation of a line, given by the slope and the ordinate at origin is: y=mx + n , where m-slope and n-odinate at origin ..."
