Japanese term

刈り取り

Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Computers (general)
ファンクションキーの刈り取り

Proposed translations

1 hr

crop (action via function key)

Is this Adobe product or Quark? Unless it is a typo for 切り取り (cut), 刈り取り (harvesting) in many graphic/publishing programs is "to crop", which is technically different from Triming/Trim command. This page has some good explanation -

http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/crop/#crop

function keys (F1 ~ ... on the desktop keyboard, Fn + number key on the laptop keyboard) are often mapped and used as a hot key, which allows users to quickly invoke common actions.

Hi Garima,

Then, neither crop, trim or its varient (harvest, prune, carve out, colllect, marquee) makes sense, I'm afraid. Hard to associate these keys with 刈り取り in normal use. Could it be 剥ぎ取り (rip off) バグ取り (debug)? 読み取り (read, intercept)? ....
Note from asker:
No, it is not Adobe / Quark.. another example from same document is キャンセルキーの刈り取り

disabling

Disabling the function key making it ready for allotting a new function is like reaping crops making the field ready for planting new crops.
Just a guess.
