Danish term
Bevis for bestaet prove efter handelsskolernes statskontrollerede specialkursus
Danish to English
Bus/Financial
Education / Pedagogy
Can anyone suggest a neat translation for this phrase? It's from a 1978 diploma. I'm having trouble finding an unawkward translation for both the phrase as a whole and the program name. I've seen the program name translated tidily as "Diploma in Specialized Business Studies" -- would this suffice? It doesn't seem to capture all the elements, though.
Could someone also kindly confirm that this program used to be called "Handelsskolernes 3-aarige kursus i virksomhedsledelse," then came to be called "Handelsskolernes statskontrollerede specialkurser," and is now "Merkonomkursus"?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, the progression was Handelsskolernes 3-årigs kursus i virksomhedsledelse --> handelsskolernes statskontrollerede specialkurser --> merkonom (see the references: Vidar and da.wikipedia.org
Both the "specialkurser" and "merkonom" are based on modules - "life-long learning".
A significant change occured in 2006. Before that year, a completed merkonom required 6 modules (2-3 years). Now it requires 4 modules (typically taking 2 years) selected from the new "akademiuddannelse". The latter requires a third year for a thesis and a project.
Merkonom: Academy Foundation (AF) Degree in [Business/or Specialty]
Akademiuddannelse :
Academy Profession (AP) Degree in [specialty]
If the "bevisholder" hasn't completed an entire specialty, individual courses or modules could be listed, each with a certificate.

PS - You may have gotten your information where I did - on wikipedia. My willingness to confirm this info is based on many years' experience with business education in Denmark: wikipedia's explanation made sense and I couldn't find anything to contradict it. But - oops - Before the introduction of "akademiuddannelse" there was some kind of equivalent capstone for "merkonomer"; however, it consisted of courses rather than thesis and project.
