Swedish term

Placeringsinriktning

Swedish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
I am looking for the precise formal term for the investment orientation a mutual fund uses for its investment/investment strategy.

Impossible to "grade" this as all of the answers are appropriate alternatives!

investment orientation

Not in it for the points; you said it yourself. This is plain language - don't rack your brains with finding a formal term that does not/may not exist. Another option is "... policy" as suggested by Thomas.

Investment strategy also sounds good to me. There is no real difference - finance is the sacred realm of buzz.

investment policy

A suggestion. I have no idea whether this is "the precise formal term" or if any such exists, but this should capture quite well what "placeringsinriktning" means.

(Sounds better than "investment orientation".)

Placeringsinriktning
The investment policy aims to generate the highest possible long-term growth in value.

Investment objective/direction

"Investment direction" has a lot of Google hits but objective would be my choice...

investment focus

I agree with Thomas's comments, and just offer this as an alternative.
