I have worked with palm tree (hybrids of Euterpe edulis x E.oleracea) tissue culture for several years. The core of palm trees are immature leaves, usually called 'palmito', which is the edible part of these species and other palm trees (in English - heart of palm).

Instead of using 'palmito' which is usually regarded as a salad item - you may use 'immature leaves'.
