Frais de mutation
Ensemble des frais et droits consécutifs à l'établissement d'une vente immobilière. Les frais d'acquisition sont constitués pour l'essentiel de différents droits, taxes, impôts et frais d'obtention de pièces administratives, et pour une part moins importante par les honoraires du notaire. Les frais d'acquisition sont réduits lorsqu'il s'agit d'un bien à usage d'habitation (environ 9 à 13%), et pleins lorsqu'il s'agit d'immobilier à usage professionnel (environ 20% ou TVA). Lors de l'achat dans le neuf (immeuble de moins de 5 ans), la vente est dite "sans frais de notaire", c'est-à-dire que les frais sont de l'ordre de 3%.

If it refers to the droit de mutation. In this case, it seems more general, maybe : TRANSFER CHARGES or CHARGES RELATIONG TO TRANSFER

conveyancing costs {charges + taxes}

Not just the taxes.

IATE: transfer costs is too literal though, in the UK, there is a transfer doc. for regd. land and a purchase deed for unregd. land.

NB conveyancing is not just of land, but can encompass chattels like a painting or a motor car.

Here, in Canada, when you buy real estate or change the name of the name of the owner, the new owner has to pay a "droit de mutation" or a "land transfer tax". It's a source of revenue for the municipalities; it's an indirect tax. The real estate could be a building or a plot of land. Why 'land'? Why 'tax" That's what the powers that be decided to call it ... What can I say?

If one is talking about "CLOSING FEES", we would include the notary's fees in Québec (but lawyer's fees across the river in Ontario) and the "land transfer tax". There may be additional costs for the buyer that MAY apply in certain cases ... but are insignificant compared to the Land Transfer tax and the notary's fees.
