Italian term
ipotesi di acquisizione/vendita
Italian to English
Bus/Financial
Business/Commerce (general)
This is the title of a report I'm translating, drawn up by a third party in order to assess the feasibility of one firm purchasing another. Although I understand what the title means, I wondered if there is a standard way to translate the term. 'Hypothesis' doesn't sound right to me.

You are right "hypothesise" doesn't sound right Kate, but there is no standard, satisfactory solution. I often use "proposed", but you need a solution to fit your particular context: possible, planned, considered, feasibility of, etc. etc.
