I'd just like to check my understanding on this one.
"ils ponctionne les hôtels de lanière abusive et discriminatoire"
I'm not sure whether there is a typo - "lanière" for "manière".
And the whole sentence doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I think it's something like:
"it [criticises?] hotels in an unreasonable and selective [manner?]"
Any ideas will be gratefully received as always.

Comment: "Thanks, I used arbitrary because I don't know that discretionary would be used in this context."

in an unreasonable and discriminatory manner
I think you are right about the typo. lanière does not make sense at all. Without any further context I do not have any suggestions for ponctionner.

an excessive and discretionary imposition on
What is "il"? Ponctionner=effectuer un lourd prélèvement.
Note from asker:
You're right - I've just reread the ST and the hotel is being drained by excessive fees being extracted by the management (the "il"). |
Discussion
JOHN A: 1:14pm Sep 29, 2008: Ponctionner = to drain (and not "criticise")

Why don't people read through before sending stuff out?
