Zunächst etwas Kontext, Begriff folgt weiter unten, es geht um die Merkmale eines Commodity Index:
The sectors can be positioned long or short, using a rules-based methodology.
On a monthly basis, each sector’s closing price is compared with its weighted average over the preceding 7 months (with the most recent price being weighted most heavily);
If the sector price closes above the weighted average, then a long position will be established for the forthcoming month;
If the sector price closes below the weighted average, then a short position will be established (with the exception of the energy sector, where due to the potential for sharp upward price movements in the event of unforeseen circumstances, which could result in substantial losses being incurred:
the sector is never shorted, but if the methodology gives a short signal for this sector, it is positioned flat (ie neutral));
kenne zwar kurze und lange Laufzeiten etc, bin aber noch nie auf 'shorted' als Verb gestoßen
