I usually work with plain technical material, but have been asked to translate a contract related to one of the products I work with. I'm not familiar with the phrase "この限りではない." So, how would I translate the sentence "但し(these products)のインストールに関ずる枝術サボートについてはこの限りではない.?
Similarly (but not quite), how should I translate "購入した学生がバージョンアップ版を新たに購入しない限り、この製品の更新、機能拡張を入手ずることはできず" Here the "限り" is used differently.

In your first sentence, I'd translate この限りではない as "does not apply." In your second sentence, I'd translate しない限り as "if." しない限り generally means "unless."

: I agree, the first sentence sounds best as "(this) does not apply to to technical support...". But it does depend on what "this" refers to in the prior context. But I still think "does not apply" is commonly used.

いわゆる「但し書き」のことで、契約書、特許明細書等で使われる文語表現です。"it"は前に提示された条件conditionです。つまり、この条件はインストール時のサポートには適用されない、ということです。
「…しない限り」も良く使われます。この場合は、"it shall not be applied unless"が一般的でしょう。
