“Gebakken krielaardappeltjes met kruiden” is a term that was originally posted to the Spanish to English forum and was originally translated from Dutch into English as “Baked potato with herbs tailings”. “Tailings”, although it may exist, is to the best of my knowledge a rather uncommon term, and I believe deals more with a form of food preparation (i.e. cutting and tailing). Would a correct rendering of the phrase in question be “small baked potato with herbs” or something a little more exotic such as “new potatoes with herb seasoning?” or does “tailings” merely refer to the “garnish”.
I am trying to ascertain what the correct English version really is for Gebakken krielaardappeltjes met kruiden. Unfortunately, I do not speak or understand Dutch, so UK English please!

Fried alleen kan ook deep-fried betekenen.
In mijn Engelstalig potato kookboek staan meerdere recepten met 'herbed potatoes' (bijhzonder lekker trouwens!)

Had overlooked the fact that the answer should be in English. In short:
Pan fried is essential hier to include to distinguish from (deep) frying and roasting and baking.
Herbed potatoes is a good way of expressing the added herbs.
Baby new potatoes - see the feedback on the other Kudoz question about these potatoes.

In answer to your note: sounds good to me too! Herbed can mean any herbes as specified in the recipe. One could also consider : 'herbed pan fried baby new potatoes' to confuse even more ;-). Are you going to try out the recipe at all??????

But rather than "pan fried herbed baby new potates" would it not be better to say pan-fried baby new potatoes with herbs. As a native English-speaker, it sounds a bit odd to say pan-fried herbed.... (as by herbs, I assume it runs the gamut, whether it is parsley, basil, cilantro and many others? |
Dear Tineke: Thank you for the additional information. I believe for years, I have made pan-fried potatoes (although not new potatoes) using olive oil & butter, with chopped onions, and herbs and occasionallyadditng bacon bits - a variation! (but boiling the potatoes first and cubing, and then pan-frying!) - delicious!!! |
