French term

dénoncer

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
This appears several times in my document in relation to discrepancies between the main construction contract and the subcontract.

1. "Sur ces bases, il nous semble possible de tenter de ++++dénoncer++++ le forfait."

2. "XXX dispose de nombreux arguments pour identifier et ++++dénoncer++++ les anomalies du
contrat."

3. "Le contrat signé comporte de nombreuses anomalies qu’il faut ++++dénoncer++++."

I'm wondering whether something like "rescind" is too strong a word in the circumstances, although this is what the party wants to do.

Any ideas will be very welcome...

I'm in a agreement with Tony really - different choices can be used for each. I'm not with rescind though....anyway talking to Tony helped me to think of "dispute", as one of the options ;-))
Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Great, that's the way the brainstorming works here, isn't it, Julie?

COMMENT ONLY, NFG

It seems to me that while 'rescind' might work OK in #1, it wouldn't fit at all in #2 and #3

How about 'contest'?
Peer comment(s):

neutral Julie Barber : Morning, just commenting too, contest would fit 1 2 as would "reject". "Highlighting" or "pointing out" would also fit for point 3. Yep there are different options, but I don't like rescind here, because I feel it's more a dispute!

Thanks, JB! And the top o' the mornin' to you, too! Yes, I think a different term is going to be needed in each occurrence, and those are all viable suggestions, subject to local context / Yes, I agree, 'rescind' seems wrong sense to me anyway.

See below ...

Dénoncer le forfait: To bring out/underline what makes the document less than perfect ...
Dénoncer les anomalies: Underline the elements that don't seem right/the discrepancies in the contract ...
Nombreuses anomalies qu'il faut dénoncer: Many shortcomings/discrepancies have to be looked at/remedied ...

PS: I dont like "rescind" in this context ...

Good luck ...

terminate

I believe it means 'to terminate' and 'dénoncer' corresponds to the English word 'denounce' and I found a kudoz earlier exemple, translated from Portuguese to English and is correct.

38 mins confidence:

rescind,/annul,/void/ cancel the contract

a few more options but "terminate" is fine

Cancel a contract and restore parties to the state they would have been in had the contract never been drawn.
