Agora faz mais sentido, sabendo tratar-se do IVA (OU VAT): o imposto líquido (a pagar) é a diferença entre o imposto que a empresa terá que recolher pelos bens e serviços vendidos (imposto de saída) e o crédito que ela tem, por haver pago imposto sobre bens e serviços que adquiriu para sua produção (imposto de entrada).
