"En los cursos 3ş y 4ş aparece el nuevo concepto de itinerarios formativos, entendidos como alternativas a las que los alumnos pueden optar en función de sus intereses y capacidades.
En el 3er curso los itinerarios propuestos son dos: Itinerario Científico-Humanístico e Itinerario Tecnológico.
En el 4o curso -denominado Curso para la Orientación Académica y Profesional-, se proponen tres itinerarios: Humanístico, Científico y Tecnológico.
La elección de un itinerario, en el tercer curso, en ningún caso condicionará la elección del cuarto curso, es decir, los alumnos podrán cambiar de itinerarios (ARTÍCULO 25). "

This is what they call it at my son's local comprehensive school.
One pathway is almost entirely academic.
Another pathway is partially academic, partially vocational.
Another pathway is mostly vocational, less academic..
