French term

agrégée universitaire

French to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy
L'audition de la monitrice mise en cause fait apparaître que cette personne est agrégée universitaire dans le domaine sportif.

I know this term has been discussed previously, but does the "universitaire" part change it in any way. From a letter from an insurance company regarding an accident.

Thank you Kathryn.

Please take into account the ref I gave you and not the "strange" interpretation of this national competitive exam given in the chosen answer.
Drmanu49 Jun 23, 2007:
Check this Kathryn.

Domain sportif can be P.E. (physical education). For some positions in public education (in France) you need an agregation (civil service competitive examination). so maybe passed the civil service competitive examination in P.E.

To become a teacher in France you have to pass the competitive exams in all fields, once of which is sports (épreuve) like run a few km in a few minutes...

neutral cchat : The second remark is true only for primary school teachers in France.

disagree Drmanu49 : Your remarks have nothing to do with agrégation!

has a degree/diploma

'has a degree/diploma in sport'...
Some things you cannot translate directly, to get the meaning you have to find an idiom.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Richard Nice : and the meaning is that it is a high-level teaching qualification
