taking a beating

In the figurative sense; 'we feel that we are taking a beating'.

or perhaps it's the opposite. I think it's ny norsk for the bokmål noun 'hogg' (n.), which means a beating, among other things, or the noun 'hugg', which according to my dictionary means 'consolation' - in which case it would mean something like 'we can take consolation....' Whatever suits the context'. Sorry I can't be more specific Bill.

But this is a token thanks all the same! I think it had the positive meaning in my case. Just doing some browsing while I have some time in the holdiay. Happy New Year to you!"
