en Argentina usamos esta frase, aunque te digo que es tremendamente informal y de uso entre los más jóvenes, y algún que otro viejito piola.

les toca (o corresponde) batear, tomar el bat, actuar, tomar la iniciativa
"Tomar la iniciativa" dependerá del contexto. Las cuatro opciones se refieren a lo mismo: a los MP les corresponde hacer algo, entrar en acción. Usar las frases que contienen "batear" puede ser informal pero conserva la imagen, aunque creo que será mejor usar las frases que utilizan "actuar" y "tomar la iniciativa".
