scusi, Mirella. Of course, and I have seen "piers" all over Italy, but piers do not usually com with huts on top, unless one gets the wisdom merely from Google. But you are right, I have seen "real" trabocchi as far down as the Gargano area.

I would also leave the term in Italian and add an explanation in English. An English-speaker will know that a fishing pier extends out into the sea and is supported by piles.

They are intricate, precarious wooden fishing piers where a unique fishing approach is taken by lowering nets into the water and scooping up the catch by use of pulleys. The beach of St Vito in Chietino is the best one to view 3 of these structures and to enjoy a fantastic fish lunch in the open air.

Where I lived in Santa Cruz, California the fishing piers all had huts on them.
