Deadline

〆る is shorthand for 閉める, so this is the 締め切り (deadline) for settling expenses/expense accounts.

If you type しめ and do the henkan function you can get the symbol.

At my previous job we had to submit any receipts (such as taxi fees) that we had by the 10th so that we could be reimbursed for them in our next paycheck on the 20th.

"Settling expenses" as Marc has suggested is also good. Probably better depending on the context.
