I agree with Alain's answer, but wanted to offer an alternative way of phrasing it.
My Harraps Unabridged suggests, for 'une liste non limitative' : an open-ended list - so perhaps you could adapt this idea and bring in the idea of 'non-exhaustive' (i.e. if something is open-ended, presumably it could also be described as 'non-exhaustive' and say something like:
...the description hereafter /below is given for illustration purposes only ......(or for the purposes of illustration only) and is non-exhaustive
...or 'should be regarded as open-ended' (depending on the tone/register of your text.
