Tengo la palabra 'confessor', pero no estoy segura de si se refiere mas bien a la persona que se confiesa o al sacerdote que realiza la labor de escuchar la confeción. Alguna idea? Gracias a todos

the priest who hears confessions
In english confessor means both the person who confesses and the one who hears confession, as a result it's customary to say "the priest hearing confession in Spanish will be on the right", for ex., the priest who hears confessions. Don't remember hearing in a Catholic church in the US, the priest called the confessor. See def. in dictionary.com
1. a person who confesses.
2. a priest authorized to hear confessions.

Si ese es el contexto, y se entiende que el Padre necesito alguien que escuche su confesión, diría "you too can find a good confessor. Or you can find a good priest to hear your confession. Ambas serían aceptables.

Note from asker:
Hola Marina! Mi contexto más bien sería algo así como: 'estoy segura Padre, que usted también puede conseguir un buen confesor' |

: While "confessor" would work here, I agree that this more roundabout expression captures the meaning better. Both options you give are correct.

: It seems it's the priest and not the person confessing Carolyn's looking for.

: Not the correct use here, sorry. "Confessional Priest" in this title refers to the fact that the priest was frequently hearing confessions in the confessional (i.e. the place where confessions are heard).

the confessor is clearly the priest. The person confessing is the penitent, and a person may have his or her confessor, who is their spiritual guide.

: This is the correct usage of the word. You are correct: the confessor is always the priest hearing the confession. The one going to confession is the penitent, or simply, "the person going to confession."
