Swedish term
rättsutredning
Swedish to English
Law/Patents
Law: Taxation & Customs
This is a website for a firm of tax consultants. One of the services they list is "rättsutredning".
The page mentions the complexity of the legislation behind the Swedish tax system and that there is sometimes a need to investigate a client's problems in depth in order to find a solution. The actual word, "rättsutredning", only occurs in the page heading, not the text.
TIA for any suggestions

legal review
It sure is common out there.
Naturvardsverket talks a lot about "utredningar" and refers to a legal review in the summary.
A legal opinion sounds more like the gist of a review; the conclusion.
BTW "opinion" is a false friend in Swedish/English so the reference from my colleague is questionable in that respect.

From ref: "...använder jag dock omväxlande begreppen intyg, ’opinion’ och *utlåtande* för att begreppet ’legal opinion’ inte skall förekomma flera gånger i samma mening"
(the author was obviously referring to the English "opinion" when putting it between ' ' )
"legal opinion" is "utlåtande"

Comment: "Thanks Mårten. I'll go for this because while I like Björnar's suggestion, yours fits in better with my sense of the precise nature of the service being offered."
