English term

dictate

English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) articles of association
If a poll is duly demanded, it shall be taken in such a manner as the Chairman dictates, and the result of the poll shall be deemed to be the resolution of the meeting at which the poll was demanded. The demand for a poll may be withdrawn.

Does 'dictate' hereby mean direct the voting procedure or read out the votes?
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Roddy Stegemann

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

as the chairman decides

The poll will be taken in a way that the chairman decides / deems to be the most appropriate. As simple as that. HTH.
Peer comment(s):

agree conejo : Yes... simply, the poll will be taken in the way the chairman says it will be taken.

I should have added that the above definitions were taken from Webster's Third New International Dictionary. Sorry about that.

In your context:

' . . . it shall be taken in such a manner as the Chairman commands'

Thank you! :-)
agree ErichEko ⟹⭐ : Errr... "command" sounds a bit harsh, iron handed. "impose" sounds less threatening.

In the context, yes.I was thinking more of giving a clear definition-but that's why I also added 'the way the Chm says'-guess I didn't make it clear enough.Thank you for the comment,Erich! :-)
