Hello. The title of an article on souks (Arab bazaars):
I am not sure what idea they are attempting to evoke with "prisma", which to me is just a 3D shape.
Can anyone help?

kaleidoscope

vision
DRAE gives "punto de vista, perspectiva", hence my suggestion. It's not entirely clear from the context what exactly is meant, I think.

You could, of course, use lots of other "looking" or "opinion" words: view/perspective/take

reflection
to me, a prism is something that reflects light and colors.

Just an idea, thaking some poetic license. It's what comes out of a prism, in a way. Or leave it as 'prism' and let the author take responsibility. He may expect his readers to see the word and see the vision of a scattering of light rays...

prism
I believe you should leave it as is. No other word has the same connotations as something that reflects lights and colors, and as something that when you look through it, you see multiple fragmented images.
There are several Google hits for either "cultural prism" or "prism of culture".

It just occurred to me that "kaleidoscope" could also work, if you're not comfortable with using prism---similar connotations of light refraction, multiplicity of images, etc.

: I have to agree, as already suggested -- let the reader see the 'rainbow'

Saludos, mmm
