Chantal Kamgne (asker) Jul 9, 2006:
It is a contract
Julie Barber Jul 8, 2006:
présentes - is the actual document (be it minutes, a contract etc...)

This has always worked for me - it stays within the same scope as the original.

obviously, as you don't specify what kind of document it is, you will have to insert the appropriate term.

In other words, if you have "represented herein by xxx, duly authorised to act in his/her capacity as ........... ", the French phrase becomes completely redundant in English.

for the reasons stated herewithin

Hello,

The person in question is "rightfully authorized/entitled to act as General Manager for the reasons stated herewithin" (the documents in question).

"in his/her capacity" is not wrong, but I don't suggest it ; it isn't used that much in American English.

Also, "for the purposes herewithin" would work as well.

à l'effet de = for the reasons/purposes (prefer the plural in English
[reasons vs. reason])

des présentes = stated/contained herewithin (all the documents in question)

I hope this helps, even though the question has been officially closed.
