Ştiu, e tare lung şi sună ciudat, dar aşa aş traduce toată propoziţia, fiindcă nu cred că e veun termen consacrat în engleză pt. acatist.

Nici dicţionarele nu dau soluţii grozave.

Leviţchi-Bantaş dă, pentru sensul 2 cum zici tu, prayer for the dead, dar e inexact, fiindcă acatistele se dau şi pt. vii, nu numai pt. morţi. De asemenea, e adevărat că multă lume doar scrie o listă de nume pt. pomenire / rugăciune, să le citească popa, dar destui oameni scriu dorinţe ce vor să li se împlinească, deci o minirugăciune cu cuvinte proprii; şi aia tot acatist e.

Nici dicţionarul român-german cel mare-mare al lui Mihai Anuţei nu e mai darnic în termeni, mă gandeam că poate dă ceva ce putem căuta după aia în dicţionare german-engleze, dar nu, dă tot o traducere de asta explicativă: Namenliste, die von Gläubigen dem Priester zum Gebet eingereicht wird, deci listă de nume pe care credincioşii o dau preotului pt. rugăciune; şi mai dă sintagma a da acatiste, Gebete zur Erfüllung eines Wunsches durch den Priester verrichten lassen, adică îl pui pe preot să citească rugăciuni ca să ţi se împlinească o dorinţă, adică lumea scrie pe un petic de hârtie o minirugăciune cu cuvintele proprii, o dă acolo cu bani în ea, iar popa citeşte aceste acatiste în timpul slujbei. De asta zic că s-ar putea să fie asta ce îţi trebuie de fapt.

Dacă totuşi din context reiese că acatistul e pt. morţi, atunci e prayer for the dead, cum zice Leviţchi-Bantaş. Dar dacă e listă de nume pt. vii, atunci e prayer for friends and / or family, aşa ceva; o întorci şi tu în funcţie de context, ca să îţi iasă.

I'd like to think there's a more "technical" term for it in English, but if there is, I don't know it and in any case, I somehow doubt it would be used in "everyday" language. I think if you wanted a plain-English way of saying a list of names given to a priest for prayers to be said for them, you could try "prayer list":

"The Lord asks us to pray for each other. We often learn prayer in our family life. Fill out your *prayer lists* with the names of your family members [...]

What are some ways that we can pray for the dead in church? [*Give the prayer list to the priest*, ask for a memorial service or prayer to be said, light a candle for them, and prayer in general.]"

I did wonder about "intercession list" too, but it seems this is generally for private use rather than to be given to a priest.
