Italian to English Art/Literary Botany Calling all gardeners/garden lovers
and what on earth is this called in English?
Anyone out there know.
Gardening is not my thing, as you may have guessed. And I don't have a single dictionary to hand

ancient seven-trunked olive tree

I've always hated the word "secolare", as it normally refers to any large mature tree, many of which will be younger than me! So in the past I've always used "ancient".

And I tend to prefer the adjective "trunked" (see link)

yes, older than both of us put together! My house was said to have ulivi secolari and they were far from that! BTW, "centuries old olive tree" tends to bring up mainly Italian pages, though it must be said that "secular olive tree" gets more Italian hits!
