I've always hated the word "secolare", as it normally refers to any large mature tree, many of which will be younger than me! So in the past I've always used "ancient".
And I tend to prefer the adjective "trunked" (see link)

: I think they develop more trunks when they're coppiced for firewood and better production rather than simply when they get old
