Legislative Yuan nonpartisan association for the promotion of the rights and interests of Taiwanese businessmen.
There does not appear to be a standard translation (nothing on reliable sources such as the Taipei Times) and frankly I wouldn't always trust English translations for other government Web sites in Taiwan. ;-) It is definitely the Legislative Yuan in common English usage, however. I lived in Taiwan for a decade and translated and interpreted for them (although don't blame some of those web pages on me...)

: Certainly "Yuan" is the correct term. I actually do work for the government here and have not been able to find a reliable English name for this grouping. The terms "cross-party' and 'inter-party' may work better than 'non-partisan', however.

I've seen all three; but in Taiwan, you're right, there are few things that are truly "non-partisan"! :-)

Thanks. Seems "cross-party" for this meaning is British; in the US "cross party" usu. refers to voters "crossing" party lines in voting, rather than multiple parties working together. In the US it's "bipartisan" -- in Taiwan?? quadri-partite? ;-)

Do you think the general audience in US is going to understand what a yuan is? You have to put it in layman's term. Council makes better sense than yuan.

Again for the US audience do you think ther understand "yuan". This is not as commomn as the Japannse Diet. Using "yuan" means you have to add a foot note.
