A Yankee screwdriver is a "push screwdriver", where a pushing motion is converted into a turning motion by a spiral cutting in the shaft.

A ratchet screwdriver is a screwdriver with a ratchet (so the blade turns in only one direction) and a spiral in the handle (so the blade rotates) with downward pressure on the handle.
