Please look at the pictures at http://www.sofabedgallery.karoo.net/cubicsofa.htm

I assume that the first one is called a 'pull-out sofa', what about the second one?
Thanks

: Yes, I think that's right - to distinguish it from a "pull-out sofa bed". Definitely not a futon (there's a separate section of futons in the link)

Thanks, John. My thoughts exactly.

: Yep, they're both "sofa beds" as far as I'm concerned, and definitely NOT futons. The only difference in these sofa beds is in the direction the sofa splits to form the bed mattress, and in layman's terms, there is no difference in terminology.

: I've never come across the term 'fold down', and that rather suggests something attached to the wall (as was once common in bedsits), which is clearly not the case here

: Neither term is really used in the UK - the company calls them "sofa beds"

: In the UK a davenport is a small desk with sloping top and drawers underneath, fashionable in the late 18th and throughout the 19 centuries, and still one of the favourites of antique showrooms. So I wouldn't use this term.

: Neither of Asker's images is really like a davenport (according to OED: in UK a desk, in US, a large sofa)

1) Futon, 2) Sofa-bed (US)
The first type is called "futon" in the US.

The second is called sofabed, sofa bed, or sofa-bed. I prefer the hyphenated term.

: THe asker asked for UK usage - anyway, the company themselves call them both "sofa beds", and there is a separate section for "futons", which are quite different pieces of furniture. The question is how to differentiate between the 2 types of "sofa bed"

: The original meaning of 'futon' [in UK at least] was a very particular kind if 'Japanese' 'minimalist' bed

1) Cubic Modular 2) Milan ;-)
If translating a catalogue of the products/ website, why not using the names used by the manufacturer?
As in the company website:
1- Both pictures : "Sofa beds"
2- First pic shows a CUBIC MODULAR sofa bed
http://www.sofabedgallery.karoo.net/cubicsofa.htm
3- Second pic shows a MILAN sofa bed

shows a fold-out foam bed/chair, similar to your Turkish link...
one is a pull-out sofa bed, the other is a fold-out sofa bed.
I will ask it in the Turkish English pair, and hope Can Altinbay (a native Turkish speaker) could help :)
