German term

überstauten

German to English Science Agriculture rice-growing
Hello all!
This is from a text about rice-growing. From the context it seems like it must mean "flooded", but i can't find the word "ueberstauen/ueberstaut" anywhere! And would you translate "Sumpfreis" as "paddy rice"?

"Bereits in seinen Ursprüngen wurde Reis als Sumpfreis in überstauten Böden kultiviert."

Thanks very much!

Hilary ;-)

Potassium availability in flooded soils

This project is looking at promising environmental and agricultural benefits of incorporating straw residues. It addresses how the overall soil quality and the productivity of flooded soils is altered following straw incorporation.

agree John Speese : I agree too, with Kim's suggestions you can't go wrong! And lowland rice might be another possibility for Sumpfreis, although paddy rice works too, I think.
