tendência em tomar a castração
Portuguese to English

Names (personal, company)
terminolgy?
Should this phrase be translated literally or is it a figure of speech?
De fato, assusta a tendência em tomar a castração, não em sua contingência essencial (em que quase qualquer objeto pode vir a encarnar o gozo), mas a partir de protocolos imaginários rígidos.

a tendency towards taking castration
It seems that this text from Psychoanalysis, I would say that "castração" is being used metaforicaly, and I think you could use "castration" metaforicaly too. I was a bit unsure about translating "tomar", depending on the context it could be "accepting"; "viewing" or "understanding".
I hope this helps.
