Bio
I served in the U.S. Army from 1983-1984 ad a Communications Intercept Voice Communications Operator and German Linguist. I had a live intelligence gathering mission on Berlin-Teufelsberg (Field Station Berlin) during the Cold War, which required daily translation of German to English and the identification of Russian, Polish, and Czech communications. took part in an intensive course in German at Defense Language Institute in San Francisco. (Currently only in Monterey, CA) I also attended the United States Army Foreign Language Training Center intensive course in Munich.

After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army, I returned to Germany where I resided with a girlfriend for four years. During this time I worked for a transport company and mover: Schultz Transport, in Berlin, Germany. I worked for IBM and other businesses through a Zeitarbeit Firma on a temporary basis and for Fleischer Einkauf, Berlin from 1989-1991. It was difficult to find work as a translator at that time because I did not have documentation about my army language training or any verification about my experience as a German Linguist in the army, as they were no available at that time. I can now offer transcripts of my education and of my work experience in the army.

Upon my return to the United States in 1991, I worked for a mental hospital for two years and in a factory before enrolling at Anderson University, Indiana, to study German: language, life/culture, and History. During my time as a student

at Anderson University (from 1994-1998), I received translation projects through the German Professor, Dr. Andrew Wisley, from businesses and private individuals who contacted him for translation help. I also interpreted for an insurance agent from Farm Bureau Insurance during an investigation of an auto accident in Florida.

After my graduation from AU in 1998 I worked for Atterbury Job Corps as a full time substitute and assistant vocational instructor where I was temporarily in charge of the Landscaping class and frequently assisted in Building and Maintenance. In 1999 I worked for Online Interpretors as a Freelance Interpretor. Most of the projects were for Disney World and the Disney World Hotel. Online Interpretors went out of business in 2000 or 2001.

I later continued my education and earned a Masters of Science in Adult Education from Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis. I am currently studying Mental Health Counseling at Walden University where I will graduate in 2009 with a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I have been with ProZ for two years as a freelance translator.
