This sentence is from Erich Maria Remarque's Im Westen nichts Neues. It is in the following passages in Chapter 9 of this novel:
"Sieh mal", verkündet er, "ich kann einfach nicht begreifen,daß ein Kaiser auch genauso zur Latrine muß wie ich."
"Darauf kannst du Gift nehmen", lacht Kropp.
"Verrückt und drei sind sieben", ergänzt Kat, "du hast Läuseim Schädel, Tjaden, geh du nur selbst rasch los zur Latrine,damit du einen klaren Kopp kriegst und nicht wie einWickelkind redest."
The soldiers in these passages are talking about the Emperor. I know that "Verrückt und drei sind sieben." is translated to "Crazy and three are seven." I still don't understand what it means.
