8. Pouring: The investment mold is then placed cup-upwards into a tub filled with sand. The metal may be gravity poured, but if there are thin sections in the mold it may be filled by applying positive air pressure, vacuum cast, tilt cast, pressure assisted pouring, or centrifugal cast.[8]
9. Removal: The shell is hammered, media blasted, vibrated, waterjeted, or chemically dissolved (sometimes with liquid nitrogen) to release the casting. The sprue is cut off and recycled. The casting may then be cleaned up to remove signs of the casting process, usually by grinding.

In the fettling and machining of cast parts by fettling (removing risers, grinding seams, flash removal, etc.) pref. with one-tenth mm. precision and then machining (milling, drilling, sinking, turning and then deburring) pref. with micron precision, the improvement is that the cast parts are processed, in an automated finishing line in the foundry, by (i) conveying to one or more parallel operating fettling stations, transferring to transport holders and fettling pref. using several fettling tools at several locations
:
Such methods are, for example, vibratory finishing, sandblasting, thermal deburring, etc. They are difficult to integrate into an automated manufacturing system.
:
n the post-processing station, a Tumbling or blasting take place. The operation of the described plant is as follows:
The raw castings are to be performed by the Zulieferungsförderer 45 and the gripping transport Gußputzstation 85 of 12, where the plaster points 23 to 31 successively the cleaning is done. Then pass the transportation holding means 13 of the 12 Gußputzstation and gripping transport the cleaned castings 85 11 38 to 42 takes place at the Gußbearbeitungsstation 86 where counseling centers at the various machining precision machining in the μ range. The tensioning capacity of Gußbearbeitungsstation 86 is 5 to 10 kW.

Fettling
Definitions
1 N Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary
o Fettling (Metal) A mixture of ore, cinders, etc., used to line the hearth of a puddling furnace.
o Fettling (Pottery) The operation of shaving or smoothing the surface of undried clay ware.
2 n fettling In metallurgy, the lining of the hearth forming the working-bed of the puddling-furnace. It was formerly made of sand, when dry puddling was the method employed; but, with the present system of pig boiling or wet puddling, refractory substances rich in the oxids of iron are employed as fettling. See puddle, bulldog, and blue-billy. Different fettlings are used according to the class of iron to be produced.
3 n fettling The repairing or preparation of a machine or part of a machine.
4 n fettling The process of cleaning castings after they leave the foundry sand, including the chipping off of runners, fins, and scabs, filing rough spots, cleaning sand from the surfaces, and cleaning out cores.
http://www.finedictionary.com/Fettling.html

Machining on castings for joints to air intake and exit is a well known fettling point from way back when. used to be significant gains to be made by fiddling with smoothing inlets etc on most cars.

Casting Cleaning (Fettling)
We have an immediate requirement for a person to help us with the cleaning and fettling of castings from our foundry.
:
All areas requiring fettling include, but are not limited to, seam lines, joint lines, flash, runners, gates and risers. The size and intricacy of the casting along with the mass of the material to be fettled will determine the equipment required. … The finalstages of fettling will require the use of the appropriate sized grinding disk to shape the fettled area into the required pattern of the casting (a die grinder may also facilitate this process)

I am sorry to see your comment to transatgees: "Thank you (even though you didn't make me laugh as loud)!"

They said that "dressed" in their answer means "cleaned up, touched up". That's EXACTLY what I am saying but with words precisely fitting the BRIEF sentence and source word you gave. I know I am correct whether give the points or not. This will not be the first time in KudoZ, that my correct and BEST answer has been rejected for a poorer answer.
Note from asker:
ROTFLMAO! :D :D :D

Definitely, given the brief context. This is also carried in Metallurgy.
disagree Johannes Gleim : Has nothing to do with charwomen or cleaning jos

I am talking about cleaning the metal, not clothes!!!

disagree Steffen Walter : You have misread the question, which is about the properties of a metallic material, rather than cleaning/cleaning jobs.
