German term

Begasung

German to English Tech/Engineering Medical: Instruments
Die sterilfiltrierte Monomerkomponente liegt in einer Braunglas-Ampulle vor, die in einem Blister durch Begasung mit Ethylenoxid steril verpackt ist.

Doest it mean that the blister is filled with the ethylene oxide gas?

TIA!

Thank you Brie! Do you mean the monomer component is firstly packed in a blister and then the blister is gassed with ethylene oxide for sterilization? Thank you again!

No, Jianming, the blister is pre-filled with normal air and is simply used as packing material to ensure that the ampoule doesn't break during shipping/handling. The entire package (blister and ampoule) is presumably placed into a sterilizer (sterilization chamber) and gassed with EtO so that it can't contaminate anything else it comes into contact with later, e.g. in a clean room.

As Erich points out below, a better term would be "fumigation"

Hello Jianming, as I understand it, the component is sealed in a brown glas ampoule. The ampoule is the packed in blister wrap. The blister wrap and the ampoule are fumigated with EtO for sterilization.
