Neben der Festigkeit wurden auch für die Entwicklung der zahnmedizinischen Werkstoffe neue bruchmechanische Charakteristika eingeführt, wie z.B. ‚Risszähigkeit’, ‚Lebensdauerkonzept’, ‚unterkritisches Rißwachstum’ etc., sodass die heute verfügbaren Hochleistungswerkstoffe auf Aluminium- und Zirkoniumdioxidbasis nichts mehr mit der dem Geschirrporzellan abgewandelten Jacketkronenmassen zu tun haben.

Same sentence as my previous question. I know abgewandelt is "modified" or something along those lines, but what I can't work out is whether the jacket crowns were modified from or for the "Geschirrporzellan". I'm inclined to think "from", but the use of the dative suggests "for" or even "to". TIA for helping me clear this up.

Another Example From earlier in my text:

"Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts begann dann Charles Land, Kronen aus der dem Porzellan abgewandelten Feldspatkeramik zu brennen � die Jacketkrone war geboren."

So here too, the felspathic porcelain is being modified from the regular porcelain?

As I read it, the Jacketkronenmassen were derived from Geschirrporzellan.

2. ......begann Kronen aus der dem Porzellan abgewandelten Fedspatkeramik zu brennen =
..... begann Kronen aus Fedspatkeramik, die von Prozellan abgewandelt worden war, zu brennen

didn't see the plural...but a disagree?
