'getrennt marschieren' does not suggest direct competition to me - I am, of course, that this does go on, Nicole, just question whether it is appropriate here. We are not told - it is up to the Asker to choose/clarify.

divided we compete - united we succeed
Weil der Spruch im Originaltext eindeutig als Anlehnung an "united we stand - divided we fall" zu erkennen ist.

: I agree in what it alludes to, but 'divided' here does tend to suggest they are against one another or competing against one another. I understand it rather than they have their own pathways rather than being direct competitors./Well guessed then!

Simple example: Cat food. Whiskas, Pedigree and Sheeba are competitors on the market, right? They are all manufactured by one and the same company, Mars, Inc.//"Zielgruppen herunterbrechen" is highly non-ambiguous. Thanks, Helen!
