German term

Bilanzierung

German to English Bus/Financial Energy / Power Generation (Energie)
Here are some examples of the term in context:

Die Messung, Bilanzierung und Verrechnung der Energien rückt daher immer mehr in den Fokus des Interesses.

Welche Herausforderungen stellen sich heute Anlagenbetreibern, Erzeugern und Abnehmern bei der Bilanzierung und Verrechnung von Dampf?

Jeder will in Zukunft nur noch für das bezahlen, was er tatsächlich bekommt und nie mehr über Dampfbilanzierungen und Abrechnungen diskutieren.

I don't actually understand what "Bilanzierung" means here and so have no idea how to translate it.

P.S. Germany tends to be very "green" on issues such as these: http://worldblog.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/11/07/454413.asp...

Hi, Laurina! Armorel and I have both already made suggestions, take your pick.
Did you have a chance to have a look at the links which were posted?
Laurina (asker) Dec 7, 2008:
Thanks C.H. and Amorel, but would you mind suggesting what you think the translation should be. I know "balancing" isn't right (see my comments below), but Proz keeps pestering me to select a translation and gives me no option but to award at least one point to one of the answerers. If you can tell me what the correct translation should be in English, I will be quite happy to update this entry with the correct translation.
Armorel Young Dec 7, 2008:
Well said, C.H. - it's quite clear to me, too, that this is the wrong translation in this context.
interpr8er Dec 7, 2008:
Sorry, but I think you got it wrong within this particular context...http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ökobilanz. As almost always, I think it's the particular context that counts

1 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I'm going to go with balancing here, even though I'm not happy with it as I now think it is a financial term in German. I can't find "energy balancing" anywhere when I Google it. Anyhow, because I'm not 100% happy with the English term, I'm not going to add it to the glossary."

inventorizing

This is to do with the concept of CO2-Bilanzen, which are emissions inventories.

which is translated as:
CO2 emissions inventories at a municipal level aim to provide a baseline for municipal reduction targets. Municipal CO2 emissions inventories represent a continuation of EU or national CO2 emissions inventories down to a "lower" level. Such inventories aim to stimulate discussion about local targets, strategies and measures.

"The purpose of the standard is to: a collate results from other standards that calculate energy use for specific services within a building; b account for energy generated in the building, some of which may be exported for use elsewhere; c present a summary of the overall energy use of the building in tabular form; d provide energy ratings based on primary energy, carbon dioxide emission or other parameters defined by national energy policy; e establish general principles for the calculation of primary energy factors and carbon emission coefficients. This standard defines the energy services to be taken into account for setting energy performance ratings for planned and existing buildings, and provides for this: f method to compute the standard calculated energy rating, a standard energy use that does not depend on occupant behaviour, actual weather and other actual environment or indoor conditions; g method to assess the measured energy rating, based on the delivered and exported energy; h methodology to improve confidence in the building calculation model by comparison with actual energy use; i method to assess the energy effectiveness of possible improvements. This standard is applicable to a part of a building e. g. flat, a whole building, or several buildings. It is up to national bodies to define under which conditions, for which purposes and for which types of buildings the various ratings apply. This standard handles the energy performance of a building as a whole. The assessment of the energy performance of specific technical building systems is handled in the appropriate part of EN 15241, EN 15243 and EN 15316 series."
