subject to further context -- if you have a process that is controlled by a state machine, the command state is the state in which the command is feched (and interpreted). 'Zustand' is the common German term for 'state' in this context, and state machines are *very* commonly used to implement command processing (in fact, there is probably no other commonly used solution).
