Finger Millet
Bluthirse is also called Fingerhirse, which is the correct name in this context (Bluthirse is also used for at least one other plant species). After finding the Latin name for Fingerhirse (Eleusine corcana) in German websites, you get finger millet when inputting the Latin name into the name search on the USDA website.

: Googling to find the Latin name and then the common name in the target language is indeed a useful technique, but as you said, the same species can have different common names in different contexts.
