replanted 4x

this has something to do with limiting the size of the root ball
Peer comment(s):

agree Kcda : Verpflanzt / verpflanzen / umpflanzung = transplanting. 4x transplanting would sound strange. I prefer replanted. Here is a related link: http://iate.europa.eu/iatediff/FindTermsByLilId.do?lilId=119...

4 x re-potted

I would more usually use the term "re-potted" rather than
re-planted when you take a seed and progressively increase the size of the pot until it can be planted out in the garden. For me replanting would infer moving the position of the plant rather than putting it into a bigger pot.

agree Claire Cox : Yes, exactly

disagree Cetacea : This about trees grown in nurseries (cf. "aus extra weitem Stand"). What's more, "repotting" would be "umtopfen" in German.// True, but these trees are only potted (if it all) for transporting them.

I would still comment though that in English re-potting is not limited by the size of the pot :)
