German term

Grundrisse, Längsschnitte und Verhängungspläne

German to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Theatrical set design
Taken from a theatrical set design contract, this is one of the specifications for the draft set design illustrations:

Grundrisse, Laengsschnitte und Verhaengungsplaene vom Buenhnenbild im Massstab 1:50.

'Verhaengungsplaene' is especially problematic, as none of my online resources seems to have anything for it, nor anything other than 'impose' or 'promulgate' for 'verhaengen', which are not very useful terms here. Please help! :)

James Taylor (X) (asker) Jul 7, 2009:
An apology I apologise to all readers and answerers for including multiple terms in one query: I realise that this is unhelpful for the glossary, and I won't let it happen again.
James Taylor (X) (asker) Jul 7, 2009:
Have just done so :)

please post separate questions for each term.

Outline, dimensions, mounting (suspension) plans

Basically, the "set" is suspended from the fly aways, or pipes used for suspending lights and parts of the set. Your "verhangungsplaene" refer to backdrops, or screens, depending on the nature of the stage set. You will need to fiddle around with the terms a bit. The Grudrisse are the dimensions of the set on the stage itself, i.e. the horizontal plane. The laengsschnitte refers to the amount of space that the set takes up, and the suspended articles refer to the vertical plane. Good luck.

Many thanks for this! :)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I would enter this in the glossary, but there are multiple terms so I probably shouldn't!"

hanging plans

This isn't a suggested translation as I've no idea if that's the correct term, more to get you thinking in the direction of something being hung up on stage.

I'm talking about Verhänungspläne here, obviously.
