Der Wiederaufstieg begann mit der Erneuerung der Bewässerungsanlagen un der Einführung neuer *Anbaugewächse*.

I translated it with "plants for cultivation", but I am sure there is a better way to translate this. Any suggestions??

Why not just translate it as stock since it is clear what it is and might well be used in that context?
