German term

Garantiemengenjahr

German to English Other Agriculture

I found the term "guaranteed quantities" on EU pages. My problem is how and where I should integrate the "Jahr" in the sentence. Anyone got a good idea? TIA

Discussion

Cetacea Oct 20, 2006:
Actually, the Garantiemengenjahr won't continue beyond 2014/2015, either, it's just that such a year last from April 1 until March 31, so the last one begins on April 1, 2014 and ends on March 31, 2015.
Melanie Michael (asker) Oct 20, 2006:
Of course it doesn't, David! I simply read your answer and comment and wanted to point out my interpretation to you. That's all.
David Moore (X) Oct 20, 2006:
Melanie, that may be so, but it doesn't invalidate my answer...

guaranteed quantities year

To me, this reads as the last year in which guaranteed quantities are laid down, and this is how I would express it.
Note from asker:
How I read it is that the Garantiemengenjahr willl continue beyond 2014/15 but the milk quota regulation will cease to exist at the end of the respective year.

agree Darin Fitzpatrick : Yes, sort of like a fiscal year.
