Sana korkopisteet on aika yleinen rakennusalalla käytetty termi. Esim. asemapiirustuksissa tai vastaavissa on merkitty yleensä maaston korkopisteet, joiden perusteella aita asennetaan. Eli aita myötäilee maastossa annettujen korkopisteiden mukaan, lähinnä jos on vaihteleva (epätasainen) maasto niin tällöin tilaajan on annettava asentajillemme tarvittavat korkopisteet joiden mukaan aita asennetaan.

In surveying, level = the elevation of a point in the landscape, e.g. the
elevation of a given point A = +32.405 m (over sea level). A survey of a hilly landscape allows us to draw contour lines, or a string of points equal in elevation.

In speech, korkopiste = plus level. The land surveyor will read off plus levels using a theodolite (transit US) .or other instrument
