The worn portion can be cut away and be replaced by a new piece and in a similar manner the new piece can be extended concurrently with the wear to the layer of chippings at the bottom. This, however, may be avoided by providing the bottom of the agitator with scrapers 80, e.g. in the form of three pieces of angle or fiat bar placed at 120 degrees interval.
