Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : It's more than JUST well-off, but that's certainly the general idea!

Thanks - it describes social groups, but for advertising purposes they'll be looking at the positive correlation between social class and spending power - though the "impoverished middle class" might pose a problem for them!

disagree Tony M : No, that's not what it refers to in this marketing context! It's a socio-economic classification!

Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : No, that's not what it refers to in this marketing context! It's a socio-economic classification! / It's pretty standard to express it like this, without internal punctuation; and it's really category 1 of all three classes A, B, and C.

o, but it does not say A, B, C1 that's why I thought it could be something else. It's true that Disney sounds weird here :)

Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Sort of the right idea, though it's not QUITE as simple as that!

classe (sociale) ABC1

Example sentence:

...5 % pour la classe ABC1 dont les revenus se situent entre 2 600. et 10 860 euros/habitant/an...

...lecteurs aisés (62% appartiennent à la classe ABC1)...

Peer comment(s):

Explanation

The document here explains a little more about what this classification refers to in general, but i'm afraid I don't know if France uses any sort of equivalent system.
