"The study drug belongs to a class of drugs called CCR5 antagonists (blockers) and it is an antiretroviral drug (ART) that acts by preventing the fusion of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) with the cells of our immune system (CD4+ T lymphocytes) while blocking a receptor called CCR5 used by a certain type of HIV. It is an inhibitor of the entrance site and is used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs to slow progression of the disease."

Discussion
Er wordt voorkomen dat het virusdeeltje zich aan lymfocyten kan koppelen (en kan binnendringen), door het blokkeren van de receptoren. Wanneer een virusdeeltje zich aan een cel kan binden/koppelen, kan hij ook al binnendringen. Het is hier hetzelfde proces als ik het goed begrijp.
