Difference between /Guarantee/ and /Warranty/

English to Portuguese Other Law (general) Guarantee
Although in PT we appear to use the same word for both concepts - Garantia - there is a difference between them:

@Oliveira Simões Yes, this is a rather complicated text and it appears to me there is a difference - pls see "If compensation becomes available to A under more than one specific guarantee, airframer guarantee for which B has agreed to participate in, warranty or other engine program consideration" (this English seems rather weird to me!) :) Thanks!

@Ana I don't know of any other option. I would use the same word. Hopefully, the context will tell them apart. Are these specific sentences you're looking at?

Per this explanation in the PROCON site from Rio de Janeiro, it appears that guarantee would be ‘garantia legal’ onde não se exige o termo escrito; warranty seria ‘garantia contratual’ ...

Guarantee são garantias oferecidas por acordo, que podem ser até verbais.

diferença entre / promessa de garantia/ e /garantia

Tratam-se de dois conceitos distintos: a "promessa de garantia" geralmente está relacionada à fase preliminar do contrato, à fase de negociação contratual. Já a "garantia" está relacionada ao momento em que a concretização do negócio torna-se mais factível.
